Hello lovelies! Welcome back to my weekly keto update. I didn’t write one for week 3 because… to be quite frank, nothing had changed! I had a few more headaches, I was still the same weight, and ate the same foods. I was slightly frustrated that not even a pound came off (without cheating!) but the body is a mysterious thing, and we should sometimes just let it do its thing..
Let me tell you…my body did the damn thing! I somehow dropped +/- 7.4lbs/3.3kg this week with some patience and perseverance. So that means that in one month, I have lost 14lbs/6.3kg!
In terms of food/portions nothing had drastically changed; I still prepared Greek-style salads with roasted chicken for lunch, and indulged on keto cheesecake muffins when I was craving something sweet. I also introduced MCT oils to my smoothies! MCT oil is a staple in the keto diet. Some of the benefits include:
- an immediate source of energy (fuels the brain and body)
- increased fat burning during exercise
It is mostly used in bulletproof coffees, smoothies, or even as a salad dressing.
Since my right knee pain has greatly improved, I have started jogging at the gym as opposed to speed walking at a high incline. I went 4 times this week, and focused on building up my endurance and core. I can now plank for 35 seconds. Thank you Korean Jesus.
I will start posting some proper before/after pictures when I feel like I see a major difference. For now I definitely feel lighter, and more toned. My core is getting stronger, and my legs are getting a little leaner! Overall I’m loving the changes and I am so excited for even more progress. I think that I can honestly make this a lifestyle change since MOST of my favourite foods (chicken, seafood, eggs, avocado, cheese), are included. I don’t feel super deprived except for when I have to go to the movies. I love some super buttery popcorn with a Kit-Kat bar or a bag of Maltesers. I was doing the utmost. lol.
Challenges during Keto
Besides the occasional cravings for toast, popcorn, and chocolate, I’m not doing too bad. HOWEVER, ordering food at restaurants has proven to be a bit of a challenge mentally. When every other order around me includes french fries, I just want to throw in the towel and dive into the nearest plate of fries. On Keto, I have saved money by making my own food and not dining out as much. The reality is that I would have to consider future vacations, and outings that include LOTS of carbs and sugars. In the meantime I’m just going to enjoy the current benefits!
Thank you for reading! xo
