“Maybe, if you put your disbelief aside, roll up your sleeves, take some risks, and totally go for it, you’ll wake up one day and realize you’re living the kind of life you used to be jealous” – Jen Sincero, You are a badass: How to stop doubting your greatness

I’m not new to the world of fiction novels and reading books occasionally, but I have steered clear from the “self-help” genre through the years. I know it was a conscious effort on my part; It was partly due to my I’m-capable-of-doing-anything-and-everything-by-myself mentality, and my anxiety.  my variety of anxiety had stopped me from reaching my full potential, had disabled me from asking for help when I needed it the most, and had made me terrified to improve every aspect of my life. (It is getting better! stay tuned for a post on how to deal with anxious feelings). My sister bought this book on whim, and after a few scoffs and side-eyes to my book shelf, I plucked up the courage and started to read the damn thing.

I loved it.

This is a self-help book, but the author (Jen Sincero), is not afraid to acknowledge the other side to achieving success in every part of your life. She delves into the ruts we get into, lack of passion, fear of failure, anxiety etc. She does it in a matter-of-fact-get-your-shit-together manner which I found throughly enjoyable. The situations and experiences that stem from her own life add a dash of relatability, and hope. I loved how easy it was to read, and I do feel like taking on the world! It will make you re-think your current life situations, and give you that push you need to achieve your goals with a new and improved sense of self. I loved how the Law of attraction and self love were central themes throughout the book.

Pick it up and let me know what you think!
